Why Choose Pukeko Treehouse?
Choosing the right place for your child is a big decision. At Pukeko Preschool Treehouse, we aim to provide a calm, thoughtful learning environment where children are known and supported as individuals.
Our centre is led by Josie Paguia, a qualified early childhood teacher and registered primary teacher. Josie completed her Bachelor’s degree in the Philippines and practised as a primary teacher for 10 years before moving to New Zealand. She later completed her Graduate Diploma in Teaching (ECE) through New Zealand Tertiary College. Josie has been part of Pukeko Preschool Treehouse since the centre first opened.
Josie believes teaching is her calling and finds fulfilment in providing positive, fun, and meaningful learning experiences for children. She enjoys working with this age group and values creating a nurturing environment, using patience and care to guide tamariki as they grow into confident, capable individuals.
Our teaching team includes kaiako who have been part of the centre for many years, with several having worked here since close to when the centre first opened. This continuity helps foster strong, trusting relationships with children and whānau and supports a settled, consistent learning environment.
Within our team you’ll find a range of languages and cultures, which naturally enrich children’s learning and everyday conversations.
Families value our centre for:
Child-centred, play-based learning
A strong focus on language, self-control, and self-respect
Experienced and consistent leadership
Purposeful outdoor play, including our treehouse
Open, supportive communication with whānau
A warm, inclusive environment
