Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing an early childhood education centre is an important decision, and we know parents and whānau often have lots of questions. Below are answers to some of the questions we are most commonly asked. If you can't find the information you're looking for, please get in touch – we'd love to help.

How do I enrol my child?

The first step is to book a visit and come and see our centre. Once you have decided Pukeko Preschool Treehouse is the right fit for your family, we will guide you through the enrolment process and answer any questions along the way.

Can I visit Pukeko Preschool Treehouse before enrolling?

Absolutely. We encourage all families and whānau to visit our centre, meet our kaiako and experience our learning environment before making a decision.

Do you offer settling visits?

Yes. Starting preschool is a big step for both tamariki and their whānau. We offer settling visits to help children become familiar with the environment, routines and kaiako before their official start date.

What ages do you cater for?

Pukeko Preschool Treehouse provides early childhood education and care for children aged 0–6 years.

What are your opening hours?

Pukeko Preschool Treehouse is open Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm.

We understand that every family's needs are different and offer flexible enrolment options wherever possible. If you're looking for specific days or hours, please get in touch and we'll be happy to discuss what may be available.

Do you provide meals and snacks?

Yes. Meals and snacks are provided throughout the day to support children's health, wellbeing and learning.

What should my child bring each day?

Children should bring a change of clothes and be ready to learn, play and explore. There's no need to pack food, as meals and snacks are provided by the centre.

What does a typical day at Pukeko Preschool Treehouse look like?

Every day is different, with opportunities for tamariki to learn, play, explore and connect with others. To learn more about our daily routines and learning experiences, please visit our Daily Life page.

How do you support children transitioning to school?

We work closely with children and families to help children develop the confidence, independence and skills needed for a successful transition to school.

How do you communicate with parents and whānau?

Strong partnerships with parents and whānau are important to us. Our kaiako communicate regularly through conversations, learning stories, updates and ongoing discussions about children's learning, development and wellbeing.

How can parents and whānau contribute to centre improvements?

Parent and whānau feedback is an important part of how we review and improve our centre. Families are invited to share their thoughts, ideas and experiences through surveys, consultation and conversations as part of our ongoing review process.

This feedback helps us reflect on our practices, identify opportunities for improvement and ensure Pukeko Preschool Treehouse continues to meet the needs of our children, families and community.

Do you offer 20 Hours ECE?

Yes. Eligible children aged 3–5 years can access 20 Hours ECE funding.

At Pukeko Preschool Treehouse, we believe quality early childhood education should be accessible to all children. If your child is not yet eligible for 20 Hours ECE, please talk to us about the options available.

Can I access WINZ childcare assistance?

Many families may be eligible for childcare assistance through Work and Income New Zealand (WINZ). We are happy to support you, discuss your circumstances and provide any documentation required.

Who will be caring for my child?

Our team includes qualified and experienced kaiako who are passionate about early childhood education. Pukeko Preschool Treehouse meets all regulatory requirements for qualified teaching staff, while maintaining the warm, caring environment that families value.

How do I book a tour?
